Bomb Threat Disrupts Gujarat Assembly Budget Session

Gandhinagar, March 18: Panic erupted at the Gujarat Assembly complex on Wednesday morning following a bomb threat received during the budget session. Officials reported that the threat was communicated via email, claiming a bomb had been planted within the assembly premises.

The budget session was scheduled to commence at 9 AM, but authorities were alerted to the threatening email around 8:45 AM. Upon receiving this information, security agencies swiftly acted to evacuate the entire complex.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Piyush Wanda stated that the email explicitly claimed the presence of a bomb, prompting the evacuation of all legislators, staff, and other individuals present.

He remarked, “Local police and the bomb disposal squad arrived on the scene immediately after the threat was reported and initiated a thorough search of the entire complex.”

Security teams meticulously examined every part of the assembly building. The bomb disposal unit was assisted by a dog squad to detect any suspicious objects. So far, no suspicious items or explosives have been found during the initial investigation.

Officials indicated that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts underway to identify the sender of the email. The cybercrime team has also been enlisted to determine the origin and sender of the threat.

In the aftermath of this incident, security measures at the assembly have been significantly tightened. Currently, the situation is reported to be under control, but the administration remains vigilant and prepared to address any potential threats.

BJP legislator Mahesh Kaswala informed a news agency, “This morning, the Gujarat Assembly received an email containing a threatening message. As a precaution, all legislators were relocated to a nearby hall.”

BJP legislator Dinesh Singh Kushwaha commented, “The threat turned out to be false, and no real danger was found. Operations have resumed, and everyone was seated in Dwarka Hall before returning to the assembly complex.”
