
Hassan, 2 January. A tragic accident occurred on the first day of the new year in Hassan district, Karnataka. On Thursday, a severe road accident on National Highway-69 in the Banawara Hobli area of Arsikere taluk claimed the lives of three people at the spot, while three others sustained injuries.
The accident took place near Chakkarhalli Gosala when a speeding Bolero carrying fresh betel nuts met with a tyre burst. Immediately after the tyre burst, the Bolero overturned, causing the occupants to suffer fatal injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Shabbir (55), Timmanna (53), and Sanjay (45), all residents of Tangali village in Kadur taluk of Chikkamagaluru district.
Among the injured, Naushad, a native of Hassan, was seriously hurt and was promptly taken to Kadur hospital with the help of local residents and police. He is currently undergoing treatment. Two other passengers sustained minor injuries and have received primary medical care.
Upon receiving information, the Banawara police team reached the accident site, inspected the scene, removed the damaged vehicle from the road, and restored traffic flow. Initial investigations indicate that the tyre burst was the main cause of the accident. The police have registered a case and begun further investigation.
The accident on the first day of the year has cast a pall of sorrow over the entire region.
