Ranchi, May 7: A tragic incident unfolded in the Koderma district of Jharkhand, where the body of a young man was discovered hanging from a tree behind a petrol pump in the Bagdo area on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Nitesh Yadav, a tanker driver from the Koderma district.
According to police reports, Nitesh had arrived at the petrol pump with his assistant driver, Pankaj Kumar, after transporting fuel from Jasidih. Pankaj recounted that Nitesh stepped outside around 10 PM on Wednesday while talking on his mobile phone. After that, he did not return.
Pankaj began searching for Nitesh after emptying the tanker, but there was no sign of him. During this time, Nitesh’s phone kept ringing, but he did not answer any calls.
On Thursday morning, some locals went for a walk behind the petrol pump and discovered the body hanging from a tree. News of the incident quickly spread, drawing a crowd of villagers to the scene. Pankaj later confirmed the identity of the deceased as Nitesh Yadav.
Pankaj informed the police that Nitesh had been engaged in a heated conversation with someone on the phone since leaving Jasidih. However, he did not provide any further details regarding the discussion.
Upon receiving the information, the Domchanch police arrived at the scene and sent the body for a post-mortem examination at the Koderma Sadar Hospital. Preliminary investigations revealed no visible signs of external injuries on the body, leaving the nature of the incident—whether it was a suicide or a homicide—unclear at this time.
Authorities stated that clarity on the situation would emerge following the post-mortem report. The police have informed the deceased’s family about the incident, and assistant driver Pankaj Kumar has been taken into custody for questioning.
