Thiruvananthapuram, April 9: Voting is underway for the Kerala Assembly elections. Anil K. Antony, the national secretary of the BJP, stated on Thursday that his party is the only political force currently gaining momentum in the state. He expressed confidence that the BJP will emerge as the largest party in Kerala.
In an interview, Antony remarked, “We firmly believe that the BJP is the only party on the path of progress in Kerala. We already have an elected MP here, along with control over several municipalities and gram panchayats. We also manage the largest municipal corporation in the state, where we have a mayor and a deputy mayor.”
Antony expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the ongoing elections, saying, “This time, we expect several legislators to win from Kasargod to Thiruvananthapuram, as we have strong candidates in every district. We hope many of them will be victorious.”
He further stated, “After this election, the BJP will emerge as a major force in Kerala politics. The party will continue to progress and will eventually become the largest party in the state.”
Meanwhile, the voting process in Kerala commenced swiftly. In the first four hours, nearly 2.7 million voters participated, choosing the next government. The electoral machinery was fully operational even before dawn. By 5:30 AM, all 30,471 polling stations were active, and officials conducted the mandatory mock polling process.
Notably, nearly 200,000 voters had already cast their votes through home voting facilities before election day.
Despite the official end of the election campaign, candidates from all three major political parties made last-minute efforts to reach undecided voters and key influencers, reflecting the high stakes and intense competition in this election.
Voters have expressed a desire for continuous development and political stability, while unemployment remains a significant concern in the state.
