Guwahati, May 10: Manav Deka, a BJP legislator from the Lakhimpur assembly constituency, stated that the party’s remarkable performance in the assembly elections reflects unprecedented public support for the BJP and its governance model in Assam.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the BJP legislative party in Guwahati, Deka highlighted that the BJP achieved an “extraordinary” mandate with a stunning victory rate of nearly 81% in the 126-member Assam assembly.
“The people have cast their votes overwhelmingly in favor of the BJP. If you look at the results from all 126 assembly constituencies, our victory percentage stands at around 81%. Such victory rates are rarely seen in India’s political history,” he remarked.
Deka attributed this significant win to collective organizational efforts under BJP leadership, strong booth-level management, transparent governance, and development-oriented politics.
“This success is the result of our collective efforts. Every booth-level worker and party official has contributed significantly to this achievement. If you interview our booth workers, you will understand how systematically and efficiently the BJP operates,” he added.
He also emphasized the importance of grassroots political work, stating that electoral success cannot be achieved solely through social media campaigns.
“Politics cannot thrive only on Facebook or social media. To succeed in politics, one must work at the grassroots level, strengthen booth committees, and stay connected with the people,” Deka asserted.
He noted that the BJP government’s transparent administration, focus on welfare schemes, and infrastructure development play a crucial role in winning public trust.
In a jab at the Congress party, Deka questioned whether the BJP needs any validation from a party that faced a crushing defeat in the elections.
“The Congress’s position in the assembly has significantly weakened. After receiving such a mandate from the public, we do not need any certificate from them,” he stated.
The NDA, led by the BJP, is set to form the government in Assam for the third consecutive time, with Himanta Biswa Sarma ready to take the oath as Chief Minister for a second term.
