Kolkata, May 9: Dilip Ghosh, the newly elected legislator from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal, has sharply criticized Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee for her claims of remaining Chief Minister. He stated that Banerjee is still under the influence of power and believes she is still in charge.
In an interview, Ghosh remarked, “Mamata Banerjee has not yet shaken off her addiction to power. She has not moved past her mindset. The government has changed, the public has given a mandate for a BJP Chief Minister, and the name of the Chief Minister has already been decided. Despite this, Banerjee continues to act as if she is still the Chief Minister.”
Interestingly, Banerjee continues to use the title ‘Honorable Chief Minister, West Bengal’ on her official social media accounts, including Facebook and X. Despite her defeat, she has refused to step down from the Chief Minister position, a stance she maintains on social media.
Meanwhile, a new government is set to be formed in West Bengal on Saturday. The BJP has chosen Suvendu Adhikari as the Chief Minister, who will take the oath of office during a ceremony at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. Adhikari will become the first Chief Minister from the BJP in West Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Nitin Gadkari, and Chief Ministers from all NDA-ruled states are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
Expressing his views on Adhikari’s appointment, Ghosh stated, “After years of struggle, change has finally come to West Bengal. The BJP has been given the opportunity to form the government. An experienced and strong leader from our party has been chosen as Chief Minister.”
