
Saharsa, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : A shocking incident has emerged from Saharsa district in Bihar, where a local leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), was discovered dead at his home. Authorities suspect that the murder occurred on Wednesday.
On Friday afternoon, police found the body of 26-year-old Abhijit Singh Rajput, also known as Raja, inside a locked house in Gautam Nagar, Ward No. 15. Originally from Garhbaruari village in Supaul district, Abhijit had been residing in Gautam Nagar. Surjeet Singh Kushwaha, the district president of BJYM, mentioned that the young leader had not responded to phone calls for the past two days.
A friend of Abhijit visited his home on Friday and, receiving no response, peered through a window. He discovered Abhijit lying unconscious in his bedroom. Upon being notified, police arrived and found him deceased after forcing open the main door.
Local residents reported that Abhijit had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. While police confirmed the head injury, they have not disclosed further details regarding the cause. Investigators are looking into whether the victim was acquainted with his assailant.
Saharsa’s Sub-Divisional Police Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that initial inquiries indicated Abhijit had attended a party prior to the incident. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has been called in to gather evidence, and the body has been sent for autopsy.
Authorities are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the case, working to identify and apprehend those responsible. Reports suggest that Abhijit had previous legal issues on record.
Abhijit’s father, Harshvardhan Singh, who was an engineer, passed away from cancer in 2018, while his mother died in 2017. He was the elder of two brothers, with his younger sibling currently preparing for the UPSC exams in Delhi.
His uncle, Avadhesh Kumar Singh, expressed that the family is in shock over the incident and demands a fair investigation along with the immediate arrest of those responsible.
