BJP Welcomes Change-Minded Leaders from Punjab: Ashwini Sharma

Chandigarh, April 25: Political tensions have escalated following the recent joining of six members, including Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP leaders attribute this shift to growing questions regarding the party’s policies and leadership.

In a statement, Ashwini Sharma, the BJP’s Punjab state president, emphasized, “This is not just about one or two leaders. When two-thirds of the Rajya Sabha MPs leave the party, it raises serious concerns about leadership. The controversy that began with the insult to Swati Maliwal has now evolved into a significant issue. Any self-respecting individual will not compromise their dignity and is willing to take every step for respect.”

Sharma further stated, “The BJP welcomes all those who desire change in Punjab. Those who wish to end the alleged reign of terror in the state, make Punjab drug-free and debt-free, and bring prosperity to farmers will find a strong alternative in the BJP.” He referenced the Haryana model, suggesting that similar development could be achieved in Punjab.

He clarified that the BJP is not a party for a single family or individual but is based on ideology. Therefore, anyone wishing to strengthen Punjab’s development and the spirit of ‘Punjabiat’ is welcome in the party.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, BJP’s state spokesperson Narayanan Tirupati also commented on the issue. He claimed, “In the coming times, more leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, and other parties will join us, as they now realize that the BJP is the leading party working for the country’s development and public welfare.”
