New Delhi, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : BJP national spokesperson RP Singh recently addressed a range of issues, from Sonia Gandhi’s autobiography to the Disha Salian case, during a press conference in New Delhi. He accused the opposition of politicizing various matters and defended the actions of the government and investigative agencies.
Regarding Sonia Gandhi’s autobiography, Singh noted that HarperCollins is now publishing the book after Penguin refused due to factual discrepancies. He dismissed claims from opposition members that the book was being suppressed, referencing the Emergency period when publications faced censorship. Singh welcomed the new publication as a positive development.
On the topic of security for West Bengal’s former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Singh stated that security decisions are made by agencies based on threat assessments, not political affiliations. He emphasized that protection is granted based on the level of risk, not merely due to a person’s political status.
In relation to the Disha Salian case, Singh confirmed that the accused has been arrested and that action is being taken against them. He expressed hope that if Aditya Thackeray is called for questioning, he will cooperate with the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Singh also commented on Belgium’s Prime Minister Bart De Wever describing India as a rapidly growing economy and a key partner for Europe. He pointed out that many countries view India as an emerging economic power, despite opposition parties expressing skepticism. He cited positive assessments from international institutions like the IMF and World Bank regarding India’s economic growth.
Addressing the Phuket-Delhi flight incident, Singh mentioned that preliminary tests indicated possible substance abuse among the crew. He stressed the importance of conducting such tests before flights to ensure passenger safety.
On a controversial statement by Maulana Sajid Rashidi, Singh referred to historical figures like Rani Padmini and the issue of self-respect, accusing Rashidi of making inflammatory remarks to stay relevant in public discourse.
Welcoming Shubendu Adhikari’s statement about singing the full version of “Vande Mataram” in West Bengal schools, Singh said this would cultivate a sense of national pride among children from a young age.
Singh supported Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s proposal for a grand temple complex in Mathura, stating that the nation eagerly awaits its construction, as Mathura is the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
He also addressed the Delhi police’s identification of 2,873 individuals with alleged criminal records during protests, stating that organizers were advised to be cautious of suspicious individuals. Singh noted that the police are investigating the matter and will take appropriate action.
Commenting on the meeting between Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, Singh expressed hope for positive discussions but alleged that the CJP is sponsored by the opposition.
Lastly, Singh highlighted External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s meeting with Ukraine’s president, reiterating India’s call for a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously emphasized the need for peace during discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In response to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s demands for action over the “purification” controversy in Haldwani, Singh insisted on presenting the underlying context, which he claimed involved inappropriate activities at a religious venue.
Singh also criticized Rahul Gandhi for the removal of Telangana’s former minister Konda Surekha, pointing out the contradiction between Gandhi’s advocacy for women’s rights and the actions of his party in Telangana.
