BJP slams Congress over Alwar rape incident

5 year old raped in chittorgarh neighbour arrested

New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday slammed the Congress over the incident of rape of a minor in Rajasthan, and questioned the party’s ‘Ladki hu lad sakti hu’ slogan in Uttar Pradesh.

“A 15-16 year old Divyang girl has been abused in Alwar, Rajasthan. A car left the girl covered in blood on the road. Today that daughter is fighting for her life in the ICU… When this incident was happening in Alwar, Priyanka Vadra was celebrating her birthday in Ranthambore,” BJP leader Sambit Patra said.

Alwar rape incident Patra said a team of BJP MPs, and senior party workers had gone to talk to Priyanka Gandhi, but the team was sent back after being told she was busy celebrating her birthday.

“Did you go to meet the Nirbhaya of Rajasthan? You and Rahul ji go wherever there is injustice in the country. This selective politics does not suit you,” Patra said.

Water Resources Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also slammed the Rajasthan government and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over the incident.

“In Congress ruled Rajasthan, the number of crimes against girls and women is constantly increasing. Congress’ slogan of “ladki hu, lad sakti hu” (I am a girl and I can fight) in Uttar Pradesh is an election drama for them,” Shekhawat said in a statement.

He said the detention of Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena and other BJP leaders shows the government is standing with the criminals.

A mentally-challenged minor girl was found in a distressed state with injuries in private parts in Alwar earlier this week. According to authorities, the accused allegedly inserted sharp objects in her private parts and threw her off an overbridge in the city.
