BJP Should Shift from Politics of Revenge to Politics of Change: Surendra Rajput

Lucknow, May 17: Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput has criticized the government over several issues, including the removal of the ‘Biswa Bangla’ logo in West Bengal, the Bhojshala controversy, and the mandatory three-language policy for Class 9 under the new education policy. He accused the BJP of engaging in symbolic and communal politics to divert attention from real issues.

Regarding the replacement of the ‘Biswa Bangla’ logo with the Ashoka pillar, Rajput stated that the BJP should abandon the ‘politics of revenge’ and embrace ‘politics of change.’ He questioned what was objectionable about the ‘Biswa Bangla’ logo that warranted its removal.

Rajput further alleged that the BJP focuses solely on symbolic politics while creating an atmosphere of fear and terror among its workers in the region.

In response to the High Court’s decision allowing Hindus entry into the Bhojshala complex, Rajput remarked that BJP-led governments have failed to provide employment for youth and control inflation. He stated, “Religious issues are being amplified to distract people from unemployment and inflation.” He noted that the matter is now reaching the Supreme Court, urging everyone to await its decision. He emphasized that any attempt to communalize issues should be opposed.

The Congress also raised concerns about the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) decision to make three languages mandatory for Class 9 under the new education policy. Rajput insisted that any changes to the education policy should involve extensive discussions. He called for debates both inside and outside Parliament, and decisions should be made only after open discussions with education experts.

He accused the BJP government of weakening the tradition of democratic discussions, stating that decisions are being made unilaterally.
