BJP Protests Karnatakas Decision to Close Over 600 Kannada Schools

New Delhi, February 11: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly opposed the Karnataka government’s potential decision to close more than 600 Kannada medium schools in the state. The party has accused the state government of financial insolvency.

During a media interaction in New Delhi on Wednesday, former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai stated, “The Karnataka government has already shut down 638 Kannada medium schools. The state’s financial condition has deteriorated significantly, and the government is bankrupt. It is unable to pay salaries to its employees, which is why these Kannada schools are being closed. This is an attack on Kannada and Kannada schools.”

He condemned this decision and demanded the immediate reopening of the closed Kannada schools.

While addressing a question regarding the no-confidence motion brought by Congress against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Bommai also targeted the Congress party. He remarked that the Congress leaders have become despondent due to their continuous electoral defeats.

He alleged, “Their leaders are behaving like urban Naxals in Parliament out of frustration. Standing on benches and attacking the Speaker has crossed all limits. Congress’s female MPs are attempting to block the Prime Minister’s path by approaching his seat. Such incidents have never occurred in the history of Parliament.”

In response to a question about opposition leader Rahul Gandhi criticizing the budget and the expectation for smooth proceedings in the House, Bommai said it remains unclear what the opposition’s stance will be.

He added, “They do not address the public’s issues, and creating a ruckus has become their agenda. This will likely continue in the future.”
