Azamgarh, March 5 : Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for soaring inflation and said that it was cutting the pockets of the poor and filling the coffers of the rich. Addressing an election rally here, Akhilesh said, “BJP people are responsible for inflation. By hiking the prices of diesel and petrol they have cut the pockets of the poor and are filling the coffers of the rich.” He said that BJP snatched the rights and respect of the people. “They humiliated us and the people in five years. They snatched the rights and respect of the people. They halted the development of Azamgarh. They did not start anything new and whatever was started during the SP regime was also halted by this government,” he said. Akhilesh claimed that besides Samajwadi Purvanchal Expressway, the SP government gave medical college, hospital and ambulances to Azamgarh. “At present only the road has been constructed, when SP will form the government in future we will set up mandis alongside the expressway so that the farmers get the right price of their produce,” he said. He said that the BJP government only looted the farmers in five years. “They even failed to give the right price of the produce to the farmers. The government failed to take decisions in the interest of the farmers. I assure that when SP will form the government minimum support price will be given to the farmers,” he said. The SP president said that 300 ts of electricity will be given to the consumers and free electricity for irrigation will be provided to the farmers. “We will open recruitment in the police. Besides there are 11 lakh vacant posts in the government departments. We will fill the vacancies,” he said. He also took a jibe at BJP leaders and said, “One of their leaders has said that we will give laptops to students taking admission in class 12th after passing inter. Thankfully, he did not say that we will give laptops to students taking admission in class 10th after passing the inter.” AB GNK 1336
