New Delhi, August 12: During the monsoon session of Parliament on Wednesday, BJP MPs targeted the Congress and the Jharkhand government over student protests in Jharkhand. BJP MP Damodar Agrawal alleged that there have been irregularities in the examination and recruitment processes in Jharkhand. He stated that the state government is neglecting the students.
Agrawal emphasized that the future of students in Jharkhand has been jeopardized, crushing their hopes, which has forced them to take to the streets. He questioned why those who raise concerns about other issues are not showing empathy towards the students of Jharkhand.
BJP MP Jagdambika Pal commented on the ongoing deadlock in Parliament, stating that the opposition’s silence on the events in Jharkhand raises questions. He noted that the Home Minister is now ready to respond in the House, yet the proceedings are being disrupted. Pal accused the opposition of evading discussion and hindering Parliament for political reasons.
BJP MP Aditya Sahu also criticized the Jharkhand government and Congress. He remarked that the government in Jharkhand operates with Congress’s support, which adopts a different stance in Delhi compared to Jharkhand. He asserted that the public is beginning to understand Congress’s alleged double standards.
MP Dinesh Sharma raised concerns about the opposition’s behavior, stating that they initially demanded a discussion, then called for the Home Minister’s statement, and subsequently introduced new issues. He accused the opposition of continuously changing their demands with the aim of obstructing parliamentary proceedings. Sharma claimed that the opposition lacks substantial issues related to development and national security.
During the discussion, Sharma compared the Jharkhand issue to alleged irregularities in exams, noting that in some cases, exams were canceled and transparent re-examinations were conducted, while questions remain regarding actions taken in the Jharkhand case. He alleged that adequate steps have not been taken to cancel the exams or hold responsible parties accountable.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Satnam Singh Sandhu raised the issue of preserving the legacy of Maharaja Ranjit Singh during Zero Hour. He referenced the treaty between Maharaja Ranjit Singh and then Governor-General Lord William Bentinck along the banks of the Sutlej River in Rupnagar, calling it a significant event in India’s diplomatic history. Sandhu stressed the need to preserve Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s historical legacy.
