BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia Supports BKTC’s Ban on Non-Hindus at Badrinath-Kedarnath

New Delhi: BJP Member of Parliament Yogendra Chandolia has expressed his full support for the decision taken by the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee (BKTC) to prohibit non-Hindus from entering the Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines. He stated that the decision is entirely justified and rooted in valid reasons.

In a conversation from New Delhi, Chandolia remarked that such a decision likely has significant grounds. Referring to a past incident in Ayodhya, he noted that a Muslim individual had attempted to offer namaz inside the Ram temple, which was seen as an act that desecrated the sanctity of the shrine. He emphasised that individuals wishing to pray should do so in mosques, not in Hindu temples. “If someone tries to perform such acts in Gangotri or Kedarnath, the Hindu community will not forgive it,” he added. Chandolia firmly believes that the BKTC’s ruling is appropriate.

Addressing opposition criticisms, Chandolia said that opposition parties can say anything but questioned the acceptability of a Muslim offering namaz inside the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He urged opposition leaders to reflect on that before levelling allegations.

On the topic of the All-Party Meeting, the BJP MP underlined the importance of the budget session of Parliament, calling it the most crucial session where significant decisions are made. He expressed confidence that the meeting would be productive and that members would avoid wasting time, as the public holds high expectations from the budget.

Reflecting on the Republic Day celebrations, Chandolia praised the display of the armed forces’ bravery along Kartavya Path. He noted that the tableaux representing various states showcased government work, which generated enthusiasm among the people.

Regarding objections from Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress over Padma awards given to Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chandolia dismissed the concerns, saying he was unaware of their perspective. He pointed out that Congress had not honoured Dr B.R. Ambedkar with the Bharat Ratna and questioned why Congress had insulted him for a long time. Chandolia stated that the awards were given based on merit and accused the opposition of conspiring to disrespect those honoured by spreading false accusations.

He further stated that opposition members try to raise questions unnecessarily and that Bhagat Singh Koshyari has served the nation. When BJP was in opposition, it never criticised awards given to others. According to him, only those who do not rejoice in others’ respect resort to such criticism.

On the controversy of seating Rahul Gandhi in the third row during the Republic Day event, Chandolia said government decisions are made after careful consideration. Although Rahul Gandhi holds the position of opposition leader in the Lok Sabha, Chandolia observed that he is often absent from his seat.

He also agreed with Tej Pratap Yadav’s remarks about Rahul Gandhi, calling them completely accurate.
