Kolkata, July 28: Agnimitra Paul, a minister in the West Bengal government, responded to the BJP’s meeting with the National Citizens Party of India (NCPI) and comments made by AIMIM spokesperson Waris Pathan regarding the ‘Vande Mataram‘ controversy.
In an interview about the proposed meeting with NCPI, Minister Agnimitra Paul stated, “There is no question about it. Whatever decision the BJP top leadership makes will be final. Our party is a disciplined one. It is not right to interfere in every matter. You may personally dislike something or find certain things unpleasant. However, the party’s decision, made in the interest of the nation, is what matters most. No personal issues should be involved.”
Responding to Waris Pathan’s remarks on the ‘Vande Mataram’ bill, Agnimitra Paul said, “We refer to this country as Bharat Mata. Just as we love, worship, and respect our mothers, we should also honor our country. Saying ‘Vande Mataram’ is a way to pay homage and respect to the nation.”
Previously, Agnimitra Paul had mentioned, “West Bengal is a large state, and there have been numerous terrorist activities here in the past. Being a border state, we are in a sensitive position due to our proximity to Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, and China. Recently, after the new government took office, there have been incidents of bombings. A larger state like this needs an NIA police station, and it was approved in the Cabinet’s seventh meeting.”
Additionally, the minister commented, “Mamata Banerjee can say anything, but we also feel a bit of pity for her. How did such a big leader end up in this situation? Just lies upon lies. Just a few days ago, our CM presented the commission report from July 21. In this incident, the families of the deceased were promised ₹25 lakh, but they only received ₹2 lakh.”
