Jaipur, February 23: BJP legislator Bal Mukund Acharya has come to the defense of former MP Sukveer Singh Jaunpuria amidst the ‘blanket distribution’ controversy. He stated that this issue is not about Hindu-Muslim divides. Acharya emphasized that under the BJP government, benefits from schemes are available to everyone, saying, “If Sita receives benefits, so does Salma.”
The controversy erupted when Sukveer Singh Jaunpuria allegedly denied blankets to Muslim women in the Tonk district’s Niwai tehsil. In a video, the former MP was heard saying, “Those who insult the Prime Minister have no right to receive blankets.”
Bal Mukund Acharya remarked, “This is not a Hindu or Muslim issue. As a BJP worker, I cannot tolerate disrespect towards Prime Minister Modi. Millions in the country would also not want to hear insults directed at him.”
He questioned, “The Prime Minister of India has been elected by all, but if someone insults him, should they be honored?”
Targeting the Congress party, Acharya stated, “Despite the government’s historic achievements, Rahul Gandhi and his supporters create chaos at AI summits, attempting to tarnish the country’s name. They go to countries that are hostile to us, spreading negativity about India.”
He reiterated that this is not a matter of Hindu-Muslim division. “We do not engage in appeasement or discriminatory politics. We work collectively to earn trust and promote development. Under Prime Minister Modi’s government, benefits reach both Ram and Rahim, Salma and Sita alike.”
