New Delhi, April 29: In a show of support for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women’s Reservation Bill), BJP leaders and female activists organized a torch rally in New Delhi. During the event, BJP leaders accused the opposition of obstructing the women’s reservation bill, emphasizing that there should be no further delay in securing women’s rights.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated, “Even after 78 years of independence, the women of India, numbering around 700 million, are still waiting for their rights. This bill has been presented in the Lok Sabha seven times, and each time it has either been torn, burned, or opposed. It has been rejected every time.”
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj launched a sharp attack on the opposition, claiming, “By rejecting the amendment to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, the opposition has betrayed the trust of the women of this country.”
BJP MP Kamaljeet Sahrawat demanded that “the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023, should reach the public as soon as possible, with implementation set before the 2029 elections. The government has introduced three bills for this purpose.”
Sahrawat also targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), stating, “Given the current situation in AAP, Arvind Kejriwal is running a complete dictatorship. There is corruption, and anyone who speaks the truth is disrespected.”
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva remarked, “Our maternal strength across the country is angry. Prime Minister Modi aims to bring the women of this country into the mainstream and involve them in the decision-making process.”
Speaking about the West Bengal assembly elections, he claimed, “The last phase of voting is on Wednesday, and TMC’s exit from Bengal is certain. The BJP is set to form the government with a significant majority. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, this will be a decisive victory.”
Recently joining the BJP from AAP, Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal stated, “Women in our country are progressing and excelling in all fields. It is extremely shameful that women’s representation in our Parliament is only 14.4 percent.”
She accused AAP of spreading rumors, saying, “In recent years, AAP’s strategy has intensified. They are known for spreading lies, deceit, and rumors.” She clarified her decision to join the BJP, asserting that it is democracy, and the Constitution grants her this right.
