New Delhi: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva welcomed the suspension of three senior Delhi Jal Board officials by Water Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh for negligence during office hours and unauthorised absence.
The Water Minister conducted a surprise inspection following complaints that regional billing officers of the Delhi Jal Board were not available to the public. Upon finding the officials absent from their offices, the minister recommended the suspension of three regional revenue officers for their non-attendance.
Sachdeva stated that the BJP government in Delhi is sensitive to public service and citizens’ rights. By recommending the suspension of officials who fail to attend office on time, the minister has sent a strong message to the bureaucracy.
Addressing the matter, the Delhi BJP chief condemned statements from Aam Aadmi Party coordinator Saurabh Bhardwaj, noting that the current service rules remain the same as those during the Arvind Kejriwal government.
He added that Kejriwal and his ministers wanted to retain suspension powers to intimidate officials and conceal corruption within their ranks. In contrast, the present BJP ministers recommend suspension of officials neglecting public service or involved in corruption to the competent authority to ensure proper punishment.
Sachdeva further accused Kejriwal and Bhardwaj of being mired in corruption themselves, making any expectation of action against corrupt officials from them futile.
He emphasised that the BJP government only seeks action against officials who comply with rules and resist arbitrary demands.
