Gandhinagar, April 28: The results of the local body elections in Gandhinagar district are emerging, showcasing a fierce contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party.
As of Monday, preliminary counting indicates that the BJP candidate from Adalaj won by a margin of approximately 5,600 votes, defeating the Congress contender. In contrast, Congress candidate Manjulaben secured victory in the Moti Bhoyan seat with a lead of 1,374 votes, marking a significant gain for the party in the region.
The performance of Congress remained robust in the Moti Bhoyan Taluka Panchayat, where Kailashben Thakor also claimed victory. Additionally, in the Mansa Taluka, BJP’s Rupesh Kumar Vishnubhai Patel emerged victorious from the Mandali seat. In the Kalol Taluka Panchayat’s Chhatral area, BJP candidate Jatin Nadia won, while Sarojaben Rajeshbhai Thakor from the same Taluka Panchayat received over 1,923 votes to secure her win.
The BJP showcased a strong performance in the Chala-7 seat of Gandhinagar district, with Geeta Ben Desai also emerging victorious. From the Dehgam Taluka Panchayat’s Amarjeena Muwada seat, BJP’s Parul Ben Dhanraj Singh Chauhan achieved victory. At the district panchayat level, the BJP maintained its lead, with Anandiben Thakor winning from the Daboda seat and Dilipsingh Solanki from the Chiloda seat.
So far, results for 12 out of the 22 seats in the Kalol Taluka Panchayat have been declared. The BJP has secured 8 seats, while Congress has achieved success in 4. Additionally, BJP’s Hitendra Patel won from the Nardipur seat, and Dahi Ben Thakor also claimed victory from another seat in the Taluka Panchayat.
Overall, the BJP’s performance in Gandhinagar district appears strong, although Congress has made its presence felt in some areas, keeping the competition engaging.
