New Delhi, May 20: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has responded to the warning issued by the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, TVK, against its ally, the CPM. BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala stated that the coalition between TVK, Congress, and the left is not based on any mission or vision. Instead, it is motivated solely by a desire for power, corruption, and the ambition to protect their respective positions.
Tensions have arisen between TVK and the CPM, which is providing external support, just two weeks after the formation of the government in Tamil Nadu. The CPM has warned TVK that it will withdraw its support if TVK aligns with rebel leaders from AIADMK.
Speaking to reporters, Poonawala remarked, “The leftist parties have threatened TVK that if they bring in AIADMK members, they will withdraw their support. This coalition between TVK, Congress, and the left is not based on any mission or vision. It is purely driven by a desire for power, corruption, and the ambition to preserve their own positions.”
He further elaborated, “As soon as Congress and the left realized that more people could join the TVK government, they issued an ultimatum to Joseph, stating that if he includes them, they will leave the coalition. This will make Joseph Vijay aware of the costs associated with aligning with Congress and the left.”
Meanwhile, Poonawala also commented on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s meeting with Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar regarding the balance of power in Karnataka. He stated, “The Congress’s ‘fragmentation’ campaign in Kerala has just ended. After 11 days, Satheesh was made Chief Minister under pressure from the Muslim League. Now, Karnataka Congress is in a ‘fragmentation’ mode.”
The BJP spokesperson added, “Everywhere, it’s ‘Congress versus Congress.’ For the past two and a half to three years, there has been a battle between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar in Karnataka. Recently, the names of Parmeshwar and Kharge also surfaced. In Himachal, we saw ‘Sukhu versus Pratibha,’ and in Rajasthan, it’s ‘Gehlot versus Pilot.’ This clearly shows that Congress members are only fighting for power, with no regard for the public. The people of Karnataka are suffering, but Congress is only concerned about power.”
