Lucknow, May 11: The President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh, Pankaj Chaudhary, targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday, claiming that the SP has become a party of “goons and abusers.” He strongly condemned the alleged indecent remarks made by SP MP Ajendra Singh Lodhi against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded immediate action from the party leadership.
In a conversation with the media, Chaudhary stated that the disrespectful and derogatory language used by the SP MP towards the Prime Minister is against democratic decorum. He emphasized that this statement not only disrespects the office of the Prime Minister but also hurts the sentiments of the 1.4 billion citizens of the country.
The BJP leader asserted that the position of Prime Minister is not merely a political role but a symbol of national honor and pride. He accused the Samajwadi Party of losing its decorum in language following electoral defeats.
Chaudhary remarked that whenever the public rejects the SP, its leaders resort to personal attacks and abusive language. He noted that while political differences are natural in a healthy democracy, maintaining decorum in public discourse is the responsibility of all parties.
He demanded an explanation from the SP chief, stating that if no action is taken against the MP who made the remarks against the Prime Minister, it would be assumed that the statement was made with the party leadership’s consent.
The controversy arose after a statement by SP MP Ajendra Singh Lodhi went viral on social media, in which he allegedly made objectionable comments against Prime Minister Modi. The BJP has seized upon this issue, accusing the SP of violating political and moral standards.
