BJP Claims Victory in Davanagere South and Bagalkot by Large Margins: R. Ashok

Bangalore, April 6: Senior BJP leader and opposition leader in the assembly, R. Ashok, has asserted that the party will win the upcoming by-elections in Davanagere South and Bagalkot by significant margins.

Ashok stated that the BJP is poised for a decisive victory in both constituencies. He noted that the Congress party is facing increasing difficulties in these areas. He claimed that minority voters in Davanagere have expressed their intention not to support Congress.

He questioned the Congress government’s claims of development, suggesting that if genuine progress had been made and guarantees properly implemented, the party would not be facing such challenges. According to Ashok, if real development had occurred, voters would willingly come forward to support Congress, which has not happened.

Ashok accused the state government of failing to deliver any development over the past three years, labeling it as a period of ‘zero development.’ He criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for plunging the state into debt, asserting that not only has development stalled, but even the guarantees have not been effectively executed. He referred to the Anna Bhagya (free rice) scheme as having turned into ‘Kanna Bhagya’ (scheme of looting), emphasizing that voters will teach Congress a lesson.

In reference to Siddaramaiah’s appeal to voters in Davanagere to support the poor, Ashok pointed out that the BJP candidate in that area is also from a humble background. Thus, he argued, Siddaramaiah’s statements indirectly support the BJP.

He also targeted Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, accusing him of blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for gas issues without understanding the global context. Ashok highlighted that despite tensions in the Gulf region, Modi has ensured that ships can reach India through negotiations with Iran.

He emphasized that the hard work of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the organizational strength of L.K. Advani continue to inspire every party worker. Ashok acknowledged the contributions of various leaders to the party’s progress. The event was attended by district leaders, MLAs, former MLAs, public representatives, and party workers.
