Porvorim, May 20: Central Minister Ramdas Athawale addressed the media in Porvorim, Goa, discussing everything from central government policies to state politics. He stated that the BJP-led alliance in the state is in a strong position and is likely to secure victory with around 30 seats in the upcoming elections. Athawale emphasized that the public supports the government’s policies and development initiatives.
He also highlighted the welfare of differently-abled individuals, mentioning that the government is working in this direction. Plans are being considered to establish separate government schools for differently-abled children, ensuring they receive not only education but also essential facilities to integrate into mainstream society.
Athawale identified tourism as the state’s greatest strength. He noted that tourism and trade are the backbone of Goa’s economy, stressing the need for further promotion. With proper development, both employment and investment opportunities can increase in Goa.
Discussing the national economy, Athawale remarked that India’s global ranking has improved since 2014, showcasing the country’s rapid progress. Despite challenges posed by international circumstances, such as tensions in West Asia and impacts on oil and gas supply, India has managed to stabilize its economy. However, he acknowledged that complete stability has not yet been achieved, making savings and caution essential.
He praised Prime Minister Modi for emphasizing fuel conservation and the efficient use of resources. Athawale noted that the Prime Minister has reduced the number of vehicles in his convoy, inspiring other leaders to follow suit. He believes this initiative is a positive step towards strengthening the national economy.
Athawale further stated that the commencement of the census, particularly a caste-based census, is crucial for the government to accurately assess the population of various communities and formulate plans accordingly.
He mentioned ongoing government schemes for women, farmers, and small industries, highlighting their direct benefits to the public. The introduction of large industries in a state like Goa could create new job opportunities and provide economic benefits to local residents.
