BJP Accuses Congress of Misappropriating ₹14,000 Crores from SC/ST Fund in Karnataka

Bengaluru, June 16: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress government in Karnataka of misappropriating ₹14,000 crores from the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) fund for the fiscal year 2026-27. The BJP has written to the Ministry of Social Justice and the Parliamentary Committee on SC/ST Welfare, demanding intervention in the matter.

BJP leaders claim that the Congress government has allegedly embezzled over ₹53,000 crores from the SC/ST fund during the period from 2023 to 2027 for the implementation of its schemes.

Chalwadi Narayanaswamy, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council and a BJP MLC, has urged the central ministry to conduct an audit of the allocations and expenditures of the SC/ST fund over the past three financial years. He has also requested that the Karnataka government be instructed to halt any misuse of funds immediately and restore all allocated resources.

Furthermore, the BJP leader has called for the formation of a committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Social Welfare, SC/ST communities, and constitutional bodies. This committee would review the implementation of the Sub-Plan (SCP) and Tribal Sub-Allocation (TSP) schemes, ensuring that such incidents do not occur in the future by establishing a monitoring system.
