Patna, February 17: Jitendra Nath Thakur, the National Vice President of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha, along with his son Rahul Kumar and RJD leader Neelam Parveen, joined the Congress party during a gathering at the Bihar Pradesh Congress office on Tuesday.
State Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru and state president Rajesh Ram welcomed the new members into the party. Allavaru accused the current government of compromising national secrets and assets to foreign powers, particularly the United States. He claimed that the ruling party is hollowing out the nation from the IT sector to agriculture while deceiving the public.
He noted that the youth and farmers across the country are distressed and have turned against the current government’s policies, looking towards the Congress party with hope. Allavaru emphasized that the inclusion of new leaders will strengthen the fight for social justice.
Rajesh Ram, the state Congress president, criticized the current Bihar government for undermining women’s rights and burdening them with debt. He highlighted the injustices faced by the family of a NEET student and questioned how the ruling BJP could deliver justice when its police threaten the victim’s family.
Ram pointed out that both rural and urban women are suffering due to microfinance companies, yet the government remains silent. He stated that while the Congress party has provided families with the MGNREGA scheme to promote self-reliance, the BJP government has merely offered five kilograms of ration to project itself as strong. He extended best wishes to the new members for their commitment to strengthening the fight for social justice.
After joining the party, Jitendra Nath Thakur expressed his belief that Rahul Gandhi is the only leader fighting vigorously against the current government for the nation’s betterment. He pledged to fulfill any responsibilities assigned to him by the party.
