Patna, May 2: Discussions regarding a cabinet expansion in Bihar are intensifying. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary visited former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his residence on Circular Road on Saturday. The meeting lasted approximately half an hour and is considered significant.
It is believed that the two leaders discussed the potential cabinet expansion during their meeting. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary was also present. CM Samrat Chaudhary shared a picture of the meeting on the social networking site X, stating, “Today, I had a warm meeting with former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his residence. I drew inspiration from his experiences and guidance.”
Prior to this, Nitish Kumar had discussions with Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav and former minister Ashok Chaudhary. These consecutive meetings have heightened speculation in political circles. They are also linked to the upcoming Bihar visit of JD(U) leader Nishant Kumar.
It is noteworthy that a power shift occurred in Bihar on April 15. Following Nitish Kumar’s resignation from the chief minister’s post, all departmental responsibilities currently rest with the Chief Minister and the two Deputy Chief Ministers. Opposition leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav, have been raising questions in the assembly regarding this arrangement.
Reports suggest that the new cabinet may see the return of many familiar faces, while the BJP might introduce some new members. In the previous government, the BJP had two Deputy Chief Ministers and 14 ministers, whereas the JD(U) had nine ministers, including the Chief Minister.
