Patna, May 6: The expansion of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary’s cabinet in Bihar is set to take place on May 7. The government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is leaving no stone unturned to make the swearing-in ceremony a grand affair. Amidst this, discussions are heating up regarding the potential inclusion of Nishant Kumar, son of former Chief Minister and JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar, in the cabinet.
Currently, Nishant Kumar is on a goodwill tour across all districts of the state. His possible appointment as a minister has generated excitement among JD(U) workers.
JD(U) MLC Sanjay Gandhi stated on Wednesday that many party leaders are in favor of Nishant Kumar becoming a minister, but the final decision rests with him. His priority seems to be strengthening his political and social understanding in Bihar first.
Gandhi mentioned that there is a strong desire among party members for Nishant to take on a ministerial role. Reports suggest that discussions are underway to persuade him to join the cabinet. However, the situation remains unclear regarding his ministerial prospects, as Nishant Kumar appears to have his own strategy and vision.
It is noteworthy that the cabinet expansion in Bihar is scheduled for May 7, Thursday. Preparations for a grand swearing-in ceremony at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan are nearly complete. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will witness the cabinet expansion, alongside key leaders such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP national president Nitin Nabin. NDA leaders, including Nitish Kumar and Jitan Ram Manjhi, are also expected to attend.
All NDA MPs and central ministers from Bihar will participate in the swearing-in ceremony. Posters welcoming PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Nitin Nabin, along with the slogan “Developed India, Developed Bihar,” have been put up across Patna in preparation for the event.
