Bihar Police Engage in Shootout in Patna, Criminal Injured

Patna, May 18: Following Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary’s directive to give police a free hand against criminals, the administration is fully in action mode. On Monday, after a shootout in Siwan, police engaged in a confrontation with criminals in the capital, Patna. During this operation, one criminal was injured in the leg, while another accomplice was apprehended.

On May 13, two unidentified criminals on a motorcycle shot and injured a teacher near Bhagwat Nagar Chowk, under the jurisdiction of the Agamkuan police station, during a mobile snatching incident.

Given the seriousness of the incident, a team was formed under the supervision of the city police superintendent (East) to investigate the matter. The team identified the criminals involved based on technical analysis, thorough examination of CCTV footage, and human intelligence.

On Monday, police received information that Sandeep, alias Badal, one of the criminals involved in the robbery and shooting of teacher Shambhu Kumar, was near the Gale CNG petrol pump adjacent to the highway in Transport Nagar. Acting swiftly, the police surrounded the area. Upon seeing the police, Sandeep opened fire. In response, the police returned fire, injuring him in the leg.

Another criminal was also arrested during this operation. Following the incident, the entire area was sealed off, and a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was called to the scene.

Patna’s Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma stated that the injured criminal was immediately sent to the hospital under secure custody for treatment. The weapon used in the incident and the motorcycle have been recovered, and police are proceeding with further actions.

It is noteworthy that on the same day, another criminal was injured in a police shootout in Siwan.
