Bihar Poised for Growth as a Hub of Industry and Innovation, Says Nitin Gadkari

Nitin Gadkari highlights Bihars potential as a key center for industry and innovation during the Rising Bihar Investor Summit 2026.

Patna, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Central Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, addressed the ‘Rising Bihar Investor Summit 2026: India’s Emerging Investment Hub’ in Patna on Thursday. He emphasized that Bihar is on the brink of significant development, fueled by infrastructure expansion, improved connectivity, skilled human resources, and a robust investment ecosystem. Gadkari stated that the state has the potential to emerge as a major center for industry, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

He noted the critical role of industry and business in economic development. For industries to thrive, strong infrastructure in water, electricity, transportation, and communication is essential. Such developments attract capital investment, leading to job creation. Gadkari highlighted that sustainable change to alleviate poverty and economic backwardness is possible through employment.

Reflecting on the transformations occurring in Bihar, he pointed out the state’s rich historical, cultural, and intellectual heritage, which can play a significant role in the new economy. He stressed the importance of linking innovation, entrepreneurship, science, technology, and research to economic activities through the concepts of ‘Knowledge to Wealth’ and ‘Waste to Wealth.’

Gadkari also identified waste management as a vital sector in the new economy. He explained that converting solid and liquid waste into resources can generate both energy and employment. He advocated for the promotion of bio-CNG, ethanol, and other alternative fuels, suggesting that farmers should be recognized not only as food producers but also as energy and fuel providers. He also emphasized the need for sustainable solutions to Bihar’s flooding issues.

He called for serious efforts in river management, water conservation, dredging, and transferring water between river basins. Gadkari offered the National Highway Authority’s assistance for river dredging in Bihar. He noted ongoing improvements in the state’s road and transport connectivity, asserting that new highways, greenfield projects, and corridor developments will facilitate easier movement between various regions and help industries access markets.

To alleviate traffic congestion in Patna, he proposed developing logistics hubs, warehouses, and wholesale markets on the city’s outskirts. Gadkari mentioned investment opportunities in sectors such as fox nut (makhana), handicrafts, textiles, and tourism. By linking local resources and skills with industry, new employment opportunities can be created. He stated that Bihar has abundant resources like labor, water, and land, but emphasized the need for better policy, transparency, timely execution, and strong political will. He expressed confidence that a prosperous and job-rich Bihar would play a crucial role in realizing the vision of ‘Rising Bihar.’
