Bihar Chief Minister Expands Cabinet to Ensure Caste Balance and Womens Representation

Patna, May 7: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary expanded his cabinet on Thursday, swearing in 32 ministers. The cabinet reshuffle included several returning members from the previous administration, along with new faces.

Notably, this expansion aims to create a caste balance while prioritizing women’s representation. In the new cabinet, 15 ministers were appointed from the BJP, while 13 ministers were allocated to the JD(U). Additionally, two leaders from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) were included, along with one minister each from the Hindustani Awam Morcha and Upendra Kushwaha’s National Lok Morcha.

In terms of female representation, the cabinet now includes five women ministers, with three from the JD(U). The JD(U) has appointed Lacey Singh, Shweta Gupta, and Sheila as ministers, while the BJP has given opportunities to Rama Nishad and Shreyasi Singh.

The cabinet reflects an effort to represent all communities. The Rajput community has the highest representation with four leaders: Sanjay Tiger, Shreyasi Singh, Lacey Singh, and Sanjay Singh from LJP(R). Members from the Bhumihar and Brahmin communities have also been included.

Special emphasis has been placed on securing the support of the Extremely Backward Classes, which are considered Bihar’s largest voting bloc. Ministers such as Rama Nishad, Pramod Chandra Vansi, Ramchandra Prasad, Madan Sahni, Damodar Rawat, Bulo Mandal, and Sheila Mandal have been appointed. Additionally, the Vaishya community is represented by Dilip Jaiswal, Kedar Gupta, Arun Shankar Prasad, and Shweta Gupta.

From the Dalit community, the BJP and JD(U) have appointed Lakhendra Paswan, Nand Kishore Ram, Sunil Kumar, Ratnesh Sada, and Ashok Chaudhary. Sanjay Paswan from LJP(R) and Santosh Kumar Suman from the HAM party also represent Dalit interests. Furthermore, Jama Khan from the Muslim community has retained his position in the cabinet, while Ramkripal Yadav represents the Yadav community.
