Patna, September 2: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the Bihar Cabinet convened on Wednesday and approved 27 proposals. The meeting endorsed various departmental proposals. The Cabinet decided to commemorate the martyrdom day of the fearless freedom fighter Ramphal Mandal on August 23 each year with a state ceremony in Sitamarhi district.
Similarly, the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter and architect of the Champaran Satyagraha, Pandit Rajkumar Shukla, will also be celebrated annually on August 23 with a state ceremony in West Champaran district. These decisions aim to honor the contributions of both fighters. The Cabinet approved an administrative grant of ₹40 crore for the operation and maintenance of the Bihar Museum and Patna Museum for the financial year 2026-27.
Additionally, the proposal related to determining the salary, allowances, and service conditions of the Executive Director of the Bihar Heritage Development Committee was also approved. In the urban development sector, a proposal concerning a total grant of ₹9,169 crore for all municipal bodies in the state, as per the recommendations of the 16th Finance Commission for the financial years 2026-27 to 2030-31, received approval. The Cabinet also decided to extend the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme until 2030-31.
Among the road construction proposals, administrative approval of ₹39.80 crore was granted for the widening of Nehru Path under the New Capital Path division, and a revised approval of ₹110.42 crore was given for the construction of a road-over-bridge in place of a railway crossing in Sitamarhi. The transfer of land for the construction of a road-cum-rail bridge using the Ministry of Railways’ land in the Danapur area was also approved. In the livestock and fisheries sector, the establishment of a state-level fish cooperative federation and a plan of ₹14.79 crore for three years received approval.
A project worth ₹73.48 crore for the establishment of Bachiya-Padi breeding centers under the National Gokul Mission was also approved. The government decided to implement the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023, in Bihar. Proposals for developing an industrial area on 700 acres of land in Begusarai, transferring land for the construction of a state medical college and hospital on 25 acres in Arwal, and providing land for an electricity substation in Muzaffarpur were also approved.
Under higher education, the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme has been extended until 2030-31, and the provision for education loans up to ₹4 lakh will continue. An approval of ₹2.75 crore was granted for implementing the e-Cabinet system, restructuring clerical positions in civil courts, creating positions in various departments, and operating two additional shelter homes with a capacity of 50 each in Purnia and Gaya.
