Bihar Cabinet Approves 20 Key Proposals Ahead of Expansion

Patna, May 7: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, a meeting of the Bihar Cabinet took place at the main secretariat on Wednesday, approving 20 significant proposals ahead of the cabinet expansion.

The meeting lasted approximately half an hour and included Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, and Bijendra Prasad Yadav.

Among the key decisions, the Cabinet granted administrative approval of ₹15,967.03 crores to the Road Construction Department for the maintenance of 19,305 kilometers of roads across the state. This initiative will utilize a centralized command and control center, along with artificial intelligence (AI)-based monitoring systems for road maintenance and care.

In a significant boost to infrastructure development, land from the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority has been transferred free of charge to the Airports Authority of India for airport-related infrastructure development.

Considering the substantial interest from investors in the state, the Cabinet also approved an extension of the ‘Bihar Industrial Investment Incentive Package’ until June 30, 2026. Another important decision was to name the under-construction government medical college and hospital in Sitamarhi as ‘Maa Sita Medical College and Hospital, Sitamarhi,’ reflecting the cultural significance of the area as the birthplace of Goddess Sita.

Additionally, land has been allocated to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan for constructing school buildings in the Arwal and Sheikhpura districts. This allocation is on a nominal lease of ₹1 for 30 years, with provisions for renewal.

Officials noted that previous Cabinet meetings had approved 22 and 64 proposals, indicating the current government’s swift decision-making pace.

The much-anticipated expansion of the Bihar Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, is scheduled for May 7 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 12:10 PM, during which the Governor will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly inducted ministers.
