‘Biden wants Eric Garcetti as next India Ambassador’

Washington, March 31 : The White House has said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti would be an “excellent representative in India” but he must get “vote in the Senate expeditiously”. Addressing a press briefing on Wednesday, Comm cations Director Kate Bedingfield said, “The President has confidence in Mayor Garcetti. He believes he will be an excellent representative in India. “His nomination advanced unanimously with bipartisan support in committee, and we’re continuing to engage with senators and working to earn bipartisan support for his nomination and believe he should receive a vote in the Senate expeditiously.” Meanwhile, US Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics Daleep Singh, who reached India on March 30 for his two-day visit, would be on advancing a range of bilateral issues in the economic and strategic relationship of both countries, she said. She further said that Singh would be meeting officials to deepen cooperation, promote inclusive economic growth and prosperity, and a free and open Indo-Pacific. He will also consult with counterparts on the consequences of Russia’s unjustified war against Ukraine and mitigating its impact on the global economy, she pointed out. She said, “He will also discuss the priorities of the Biden administration, including the promotion of high-quality infrastructure through Build Back Better World and the development of an Indo-Pacific Economic Framework.” RNJ
