Bhumi Pednekar Supports Pink E-Rickshaw Initiative to Empower Women

Mumbai, June 3: Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar has openly supported the ‘Pink E-Rickshaw’ initiative launched under the ‘Drive Her Future’ campaign in Mumbai. This initiative aims to provide employment opportunities for women, making them self-reliant and economically empowered. Pednekar emphasized that when women have the chance to earn and stand on their own feet, it not only transforms their lives but also accelerates societal and national progress.

During the launch event in Mumbai, Pednekar praised the initiative, stating, “This program addresses three critical issues: the environment, women’s safety, and women’s empowerment. While many talk about empowering women, few take concrete steps that truly bring about change in their lives. This initiative directly benefits women.”

She further explained, “Under this program, female drivers will receive e-rickshaws, enabling them to earn a livelihood. Economic independence is the greatest means of empowering any woman. When a woman has her own source of income, her confidence grows, and she becomes capable of making her own decisions. If the women of our country are empowered and self-sufficient, the pace of national development will also accelerate, creating a safer environment in society.”

Pednekar highlighted that the initiative not only creates opportunities for women but also contributes to environmental protection. Initially, one thousand pink e-rickshaws will be launched in Mumbai, with a goal of providing a total of twelve thousand e-rickshaws across Maharashtra. The plan is to extend this initiative to other states in the future, ensuring that women nationwide can benefit.

Amruta Fadnavis and Saher Bhamla also attended the event, with Fadnavis praising the initiative. She noted that environmental protection is one of the biggest challenges facing the world today. Promoting electric vehicles has become crucial. The Pink E-Rickshaw scheme not only offers employment and self-reliance to women but also helps in preserving the environment. When a woman earns her livelihood by driving an e-rickshaw, she contributes positively to both society and the environment.

It is noteworthy that the ‘Drive Her Future’ campaign, initiated by the Bhamla Foundation, aims to provide e-rickshaws to one thousand women. The goal is to strengthen women economically, promote self-reliance, and create new employment opportunities.
