Bharat Bandh evokes mixed response in Assam

Guwahati, March 28 : A two-day nationwide strike called by a joint forum of central trade ons evoked a mixed response in different parts of Assam The bandh which began on 6 AM, saw commercial and passenger vehicular traffic remain off the road. In the capital town Guwahati, city buses and other modes of public transport stayed off the road. Similar scenes were observed in major towns of the state including Dibrugarh and Silchar. The two-day nationwide strike is likely to affect banking services . The Platform of Central Trade ons and Sectoral Federations and Associations, aims to draw attention to criticism of the government policies, which have been defined as “anti-worker, anti-farmer and anti-national”, they said in a statement. This is the first major protest that India is set to witness after assembly elections in five states. The BJP was able to retain four of five states – Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Goa – while the AAP won Punjab. The BJP said it won the four states because of its pro-people and pro-development agenda. ABI BM
