Bhagalpur explosion toll rises to 12, PM talks to Nitish

Patna, Mar 4 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed his “deep shock” over deaths in a blast in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district, as the death toll mounted to 12. The explosion had taken place in Kajwalichak on Thursday night. Prime Minister in his tweet expressed his grief over the incident saying it is painful for him to learn about the loss of lives of the people in an explosion in Bhagalpur district of Bihar. He wished early recovery of those sustained injuries and said that the administration is engaged in carrying out relief and rescue operations. ” I discussed with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Ji about the situation “, Prime Minister informed in his tweet. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also expressed his deep shock over the incident and directed Chief Secretary and DGP to ensure a thorough inquiry. He called both the top officials to get details of the incident. He also directed to make all arrangements for treatment of those injured in the incident. While the death toll increased to 12, several others were injured and were also rushed to hospitals where their conditions are listed as critical. DIG of Bhagalpur range Sujeet Kumar said that the case is being investigated. As per district officials, the blast took place during the making of illegal firecrackers which turned the three stories into rubble and damaged the adjoining buildings. The debris are being removed with the help of JCB machine. ” A team of Forensic Science Laboratory has collected samples from the spot for forensic testings”, Kumar said adding that those found guilty in the incident would be nabbed and legal action would be taken against them.
