Kolkata, March 24 : Popular Bengali film and television actor Abhishek Chatterjee died of a massive cardiac arrest at his residence here early Thursday following a massive heart attack, industry sources said. Chatterjee, 58, is survived by his wife and a daughter. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condoled the demise of the actor at an “early age when he was active in the studios, both for Bengali cinema and TV serials.” The actor even had a shooting scheduled for a show on Wednesday and felt dizzy following some stomach trouble, the sources said. They said the crew immediately attended to him, but the actor turned down the request for getting hospitalised and preferred to go home. His end came around 1-10 AM on Thursday following a massive heart failure. Chatterjee, who had played prominent roles in many hit movies like ‘Pothbhola’, ‘Ora Charjon’, ‘Amar Prem’, ‘Madhur Milan’, and ‘Bariwali’ was also a part of the Bengali television serial ‘Khorkuto’.
