Balaghat District Launches Development Initiative for 100 Villages Post-Naxal Era
Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh initiates a development campaign for 100 villages previously affected by Naxal activities.

Balaghat, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant move towards development, Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh has launched an initiative to connect 100 villages previously impacted by Naxal activities to the mainstream. With Naxalism now eradicated from the region, efforts are underway to enhance infrastructure and improve living conditions for the villagers.
On October 26 and 28, state officials visited villages in the Baheti, Birsa, Lanji, and Kiranapur development blocks. During these visits, they engaged with local residents to gather insights into their basic needs, challenges, and potential for development. Based on feedback from the villagers, a comprehensive action plan is being formulated to expand essential services and promote employment-generating activities.
The 100 Naxal-affected villages have been organized into four clusters, each assigned to different departmental officials responsible for assessment. These officials will spend 14 days evaluating available facilities, understanding community needs, and drafting proposals for development projects.
The primary goal of the initiative is to enhance basic amenities while also improving education, health, nutrition, and livelihood opportunities. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, officials have been tasked with visiting the villages to identify local issues. They are assessing the availability and necessity of infrastructure such as roads, bridges, drinking water, irrigation, school buildings, anganwadi centers, and electricity.
Officials aim to determine which services are most urgently needed and prioritize their resolution. Additionally, there is a focus on strengthening education, health, and nutrition services. By gathering information on the current state of government facilities in rural areas, proposals for necessary improvements and infrastructure development will be prepared.
Departments have also been directed to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive benefits through various government schemes. Collector Aditya Singh has instructed officials to complete their village assessments within the designated 14-day period and prepare a detailed report. The initiative seeks to enhance basic facilities in these 100 villages and ensure that residents benefit from government programs. Furthermore, it aims to provide education, employment, and self-employment opportunities for youth and tribal communities, integrating them into the development mainstream.
