Ayodhya saints have welcomed the proposal by the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) to restrict the entry of non-Hindus into the Badrinath and Kedarnath temples. They described the decision as appropriate and in the interest of all.
Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das told news agencies, “Just as Hindus are not allowed to visit Mecca and Medina, and are not permitted inside mosques, what purpose do non-Hindus have at pilgrimage sites? In this context, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken a commendable decision, which has also received support from local religious leaders. Uttarakhand is the land of the gods, where sages performed penance, and the starting point of the Char Dham Yatra.”
He added, “The Char Dham Yatra, which begins here, is the centre of faith for Hindus. Those who cannot even say ‘Vande Mataram’ while living in the country should not be allowed to visit these sacred places. Anyone wishing to enter must chant Lord Ram’s name and embrace Hinduism. Conspiracies against Hindus must be stopped.”
Vishnu Das further stated, “Muslims have often tried to hurt the faith of Sanatanis. Therefore, the decision taken is right and beneficial for everyone.”
Mahant Sitaram Dasi of Saket Bhavan Temple expressed, “In some areas of Uttarakhand, the ban on non-Hindu entry is a welcome step. I fully support this order and appeal to all Hindus that whenever extremists try to weaken Sanatan Dharma, a complete ban on non-Hindus should be imposed at all pilgrimage and religious cities across India.”
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the government will act according to the opinions of religious organisations responsible for managing the state’s religious and ancient sites. He added that all these places hold sacred significance and the government is currently reviewing existing laws to proceed accordingly.
