Ayodhya, February 16: Awadhesh Prasad, a Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party (SP), has emphasized the need for both the central and state governments to create special honor schemes for Indian players following their recent victory over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.
In a conversation in Ayodhya, Prasad highlighted the glorious history of Indian athletes. He noted that time and again, players from the country have brought pride through their competitions and bravery. The recent match against Pakistan showcased a significant defeat for the opposing team, elevating the nation’s honor. He extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all Indian players and urged the government to establish a special recognition plan to boost their morale.
While praising SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, Prasad remarked that public trust in Yadav is growing, while confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is waning. This shift is evident as leaders from various parties are expressing interest in joining the SP. A significant gathering of prominent leaders took place in Lucknow on February 15, indicating increasing faith in the SP.
Regarding Mamata Banerjee’s recent comments on the SIR issue, Prasad noted that she is the first Chief Minister to approach the courts to defend democracy concerning this matter. Her actions have sent a strong message across the country. He criticized the current government’s alleged plan to undermine the voting rights of backward classes, Dalits, and minorities through SIR, labeling it a major threat to democracy. He stated that the voting rights granted by B.R. Ambedkar are under threat from the BJP, and he commended Banerjee for her efforts.
Prasad also mentioned SP leader Moid Khan, calling for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to express regret in the assembly for the wrongful targeting of an innocent individual and the demolition of their home, emphasizing that there is no provision in the Constitution for such actions.
