Auto Thief Arrested in Delhi, Solving Four Vehicle Theft Cases

New Delhi, April 25: In a significant breakthrough amid rising vehicle theft incidents in the national capital, police have apprehended a notorious auto thief in Shahdara district. The Fars Bazar police team arrested the suspect and recovered three stolen two-wheelers. This arrest has led to the resolution of four vehicle theft cases.

The arrested individual has been identified as Neeraj, also known as Modi, Nodi, or Nody, aged 26, a resident of Shahdara. He has a history of involvement in 12 previous cases of vehicle theft and burglary.

The case began on March 18 when the complainant, Raj Kumar, filed an online report about his stolen scooter. An e-FIR was registered at Fars Bazar police station under number 006195/26, Section 305(B) BNS. A special investigation team was formed, consisting of Head Constable Amit Kumar, Diwakar, Ravi Shekhar, and Hemant, under the leadership of SHO Inspector Ajay Karan Sharma, with oversight from ACP Sanjeev Kumar and guidance from DCP Shahdara.

The team meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas, leading to the identification of Neeraj. Local intelligence further confirmed his identity.

On April 23, police received a tip-off about the suspect’s presence in the area. Acting on this information, the team set a trap and arrested him while he was riding a stolen scooter. This vehicle was linked to another theft case at Fars Bazar police station.

During interrogation, Neeraj not only admitted to this theft but also confessed to involvement in three other vehicle theft cases. Following his directions, two additional stolen vehicles were recovered from MCD Park in NSA Colony, Shahdara.

The cases uncovered after his arrest include four separate e-FIRs registered at Fars Bazar, Krishna Nagar, and MS Park police stations.
