New Delhi, May 7: The Australian cricket team is set to arrive in Pakistan on May 23 for a three-match ODI series. This was confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday.
According to the PCB, the Australian team will land in Islamabad on May 23. The first ODI will take place on May 30 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The second and third matches are scheduled for June 2 and June 4 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
All matches will commence at 4:30 PM local time, with the toss scheduled for 4 PM. The Pakistan-Australia series will coincide with the IPL 2026 playoff schedule.
Several prominent Australian white-ball players are participating in IPL 2026, which may lead to their absence from the touring squad. Players whose franchises do not reach the playoffs could join the team before the first ODI. Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis from LSG, along with Cameron Green from KKR, are potential additions, given the slim chances of their teams advancing in the IPL.
Players like Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Travis Head may be rested to focus on the Test series in Bangladesh scheduled for August. Meanwhile, Cooper Connolly, Javier Bartlett, Ben Dwarshuis, and Matthew Short might receive breaks to participate in the white-ball series in Bangladesh in June. Alex Carey, Adam Zampa, and Marnus Labuschagne, who recently played in the Pakistan Super League, could be included in the Australian squad for the ODI series. Nathan Ellis and Matthew Renshaw are also likely candidates for selection.
This will be Australia’s first ODI tour of Pakistan since March-April 2022, when Pakistan won the series 2-1. Earlier this year, Australia visited Pakistan for a three-match T20 series, where they suffered a clean sweep, losing 3-0.
In total, Australia and Pakistan have faced each other in 111 ODIs, with Australia winning 71 matches, while Pakistan has claimed victory in 36. One match ended in a tie, and three matches had no result.
