South Mackay, August 23: In the second day of the Test match against Bangladesh at the Great Barrier Reef Arena, Australia concluded their first innings at 210 runs, securing a crucial 146-run lead.
Australia resumed their innings on day two at 165 runs with 8 wickets down. Cameron Green contributed significantly with a score of 67 runs off 105 balls, while Nathan Lyon added 32 runs, remaining not out. The pair managed to add 24 runs for the last wicket, pushing the team’s total to 210. Green was dismissed as the ninth wicket at a score of 186. Josh Hazlewood fell for 6 runs, marking the end of Australia’s innings. Earlier, Steve Smith and Travis Head had scored 42 and 22 runs, respectively.
Shariful Islam delivered an impressive bowling performance for Bangladesh, taking 7 wickets for 48 runs in 15 overs. He had already claimed 6 wickets on the first day and added Cameron Green’s crucial wicket on day two. Teammates Taskin Ahmed, Taijul Islam, and Mehidy Hasan each took one wicket.
