Buldhana, May 19: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) continues its operations in Buldhana district. Recently, they arrested three individuals in two separate cases of illegal arms trafficking.
In the latest incident, ATS apprehended two fugitives en route to Nashik. According to sources, the suspects were traveling towards Nashik around 9 AM when the Nashik ATS team intercepted and detained them. Previously, one suspect had already been arrested in connection with this case, bringing the total number of detainees to three. The ATS is currently conducting further investigations.
In a significant breakthrough, ATS conducted a raid in Pimpri Koli village under the Raipur police station around 1 to 1:30 AM. They received confidential information about an individual selling illegal weapons in the area. The team quickly set up a trap and caught Shubham Pawar (22 years old, resident of Wardha) red-handed.
During the search, authorities recovered two pistols, four magazines, and 92 live cartridges from the suspect. Additionally, a four-wheeler used in the crime was seized. Shubham Pawar had brought the pistols for sale. A case has been registered at the Raipur police station regarding this matter.
Both ATS and local police collaborated on the operation. Preliminary investigations revealed that Shubham Pawar provided information related to arms supply, leading to further raids. Authorities suspect that more members of this gang may still be active.
The ATS’s strict measures against illegal arms trafficking and criminal activities in Buldhana district have brought some relief locally. However, security agencies remain on high alert. Officials stated that both cases are under thorough investigation, and if links to other states or districts emerge, the scope of action will be expanded.
