The PA40SU enhances Asus’s ProArt lineup, which is recognized for its professional design aimed at creative users.
Specifications of Asus ProArt PA40SU
The PA40SU utilizes USB4 technology through a USB-C connection, enabling high-speed data transfers. It accommodates NVMe M.2 SSDs in various form factors—2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280—with storage capacities reaching up to 4TB. Asus asserts that this enclosure is ideal for tasks such as 4K video editing, transferring large media files, and managing backups.
Asus has integrated a four-level smart cooling fan along with a thermal pad to maintain stable drive temperatures. In a continuous 30-minute data transfer test, the enclosure successfully handled 2960GB of data without any throttling. The fan operates quietly, producing noise levels as low as 18.2 dB(A) even under heavy data loads.
The enclosure boasts a slim profile, measuring just 13.5mm in thickness and weighing 127 grams. Its Stealth Black finish provides a professional aesthetic, making it suitable for both studio environments and on-location use. Additionally, Asus has designed a tool-free, push-to-open mechanism for quick installation or replacement of SSDs, enhancing user convenience.
Included with the device is the ProArt SSD Dashboard application, which allows for real-time monitoring of SSD health and performance, ensuring optimal functionality during demanding projects.
The enclosure is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS 14.4 or later, making it versatile for most current systems. It supports USB4, as well as older USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 interfaces.
