Over 27 lakh people have been affected in the third wave of flood. Out of the 33 districts of Assam 26 districts remain affected by flood waters while Goalpara still remains the worst-hit district with over 4.7 lakh people affected.
According to The Assam State Disaster Management Authority in the last 24 hours 380 flood affected people have been evacuated deploying 90 boats. 50,079 inmates are taking shelter in the 295 relief camps. A total of 2491 villages under 72 Revenue circles are flooded. While 1,19,177 hectares of cropland are affected according to reports.
The Brahmaputra, Dhansiri, Jia Bharali, Kopili and Beki rivers are flowing above the danger level in several districts.
There have reports of erosion in Udalguri district where two incidents took place in Mora-Bhola River and Kalanadi River while in Kokrajhar district an incident of erosion took place in Champamatir River.
Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi visited Chirang district on Friday where he went to Hagrama Bridge and stock of the erosion caused by Aie river. Later he visited two relief camps where he interacted with the inmates there.
