
Guwahati, May 7: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Khanapara on Thursday to assess the preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit and the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected council of ministers.
Officials reported that the Chief Minister inspected arrangements at the Veterinary College field, where the ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 12.
During the visit, Sarma reviewed security measures, seating arrangements, traffic management, stage construction, and other logistical preparations related to this significant event.
The ceremony is expected to see the attendance of Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from various states governed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), along with central ministers, senior government officials, and party leaders.
Given the Prime Minister’s participation, extensive security and administrative arrangements are being put in place, according to officials. Police and district administration officials accompanied the Chief Minister during the inspection and provided updates on the progress of preparations.
Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia stated that the oath-taking ceremony of the NDA government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, will be held on May 12 in Khanapara, with the presence of Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several senior NDA leaders.
Speaking to reporters, Saikia mentioned that the ceremony will commence at 11 AM at the sports ground of the Veterinary College, with an expected attendance of over one lakh people.
He noted that there is tremendous enthusiasm among the public regarding the formation of the new NDA government in Guwahati and other parts of Assam, and people are eagerly awaiting the oath-taking ceremony. A large number of supporters and citizens are expected to gather in Khanapara to witness this historic occasion.
According to him, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to arrive at Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport around 10:15 AM on May 12 and will then proceed to the ceremony site via the Narengi helipad.
