Assam Chief Minister Calls Bengal Election Result a Victory for National Security

Guwahati, May 4: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma responded to the BJP’s victory in West Bengal, labeling it a ‘victory for the nation.’ He emphasized that this outcome transcends party lines and has significant implications for national security and regional stability.

Sarma noted that Mamata Banerjee’s defeat signals a decisive shift in the political landscape of Eastern India, particularly concerning border management and governance. He pointed out that issues like infiltration, border fencing, and demographic challenges have long plagued the region. According to him, this is not merely a win for the BJP but a triumph for India as a whole. He further stated that the mandate reflects the public’s aspiration for strong governance, transparency, and accountability in the state.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their leadership, stating that their extensive outreach and strategic foresight played a crucial role in shaping the electoral outcome. Sarma mentioned that both leaders operated from a national perspective, focusing on long-term development and security. He expressed hope that with the formation of a BJP government in West Bengal, coordinated efforts between Eastern and Northeastern states would gain momentum.

He asserted that improved cooperation among states would enhance border security, curb illegal movement, and ensure greater stability across the region. Sarma added that development initiatives in West Bengal would also benefit neighboring states, fostering a more integrated economic and administrative framework in Eastern India.

He emphasized that better infrastructure and governance would not only benefit Bengal but the entire region. Highlighting the broader significance of the results, he stated that this decision reflects a collective desire for change and a step towards prioritizing policies that serve national interests.
