Mumbai, May 23: In the world of Hindi cinema, many star kids have emerged with high expectations from the audience. Viewers often believe that these children of famous actors will follow in their parents’ footsteps and become major stars. However, not everyone’s journey is the same. Arya Babbar is one such artist who faced this reality. As the son of renowned actor Raj Babbar, he had significant expectations placed upon him.
In a recent interview, Arya expressed his desire to build a long and successful career like his father. Despite not achieving the same level of success in Bollywood, Arya did not give up. He has made efforts to establish himself across various platforms, including films, television, theater, Punjabi cinema, and writing.
Born on May 24, 1981, in Mumbai, Arya grew up in a film-centric environment. His father, Raj Babbar, is a prominent actor in Hindi cinema, while his mother, Nadira Babbar, is a well-known theater artist. Surrounded by acting and art, Arya naturally gravitated towards acting from a young age. His elder sister, Juhi Babbar, is also an actress, and his half-brother, Prateik Babbar, is a Bollywood actor.
Arya began his Bollywood career in 2002 with the film ‘Ab Ke Baras,’ co-starring Amrita Rao. Unfortunately, the film did not perform well at the box office. Despite this setback, Arya continued to receive work. He appeared in several films as both a lead and supporting actor, yet his career did not progress at the expected pace.
Following this, Arya featured in films like ‘Guru,’ ‘Ready,’ and ‘Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women.’ He worked alongside major stars but struggled to carve out a strong identity in the industry. Gradually, his journey in Bollywood began to wane.
Later, Arya turned his attention to the Punjabi film industry, where he gained considerable recognition. His film ‘Yaar Anmulle’ was well-received by audiences, and his acting in Punjabi films was appreciated.
In addition to films, Arya also ventured into television. He participated in ‘Bigg Boss 8,’ showcasing a different side of himself. Although he did not progress far in the show, he remained in the spotlight due to various controversies, particularly regarding his remarks about actress Minissha Lamba, for which he later apologized. He also portrayed the character of Ravana in the TV show ‘Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman,’ which was well-received by viewers.
Arya has a passion for writing as well. He authored a comic book titled ‘Pushpak Viman.’
